All of our finishes are applied by hand and give each piece its own personality. The Olde Century Color paints that we use have natural earthy tones and hues not found in today's paints. They leave subtle brush strokes with a low soft sheen.
Milk Paints produce a soft flat soothing appearance. A distinct look very difficult to replicate using regular paints. A milk paint finish is susceptible to water spots and staining. It may be difficult to keep clean but the patina will continue to age and deepen over time. For high use items we recommend using the antiquing glaze over the milk paint to add protection and to make cleaning easier. Our Distressed finish would be better described as time worn, washed, aged, polished ... Edges are rounded over and wear patterns are worn in to the areas that you would expect them to be from years of use. Underlying colors and wood show through in just the right spots. The Antiquing Glaze has an appearance similar to an Antiquing Wax without the negatives. It adds depth and protection to the finish but unlike a wax the Antiquing glaze can be painted over. It also adds an aged look with a slight chestnut brown caste to the paint. More noticeable on lighter colors and less so on darker colors. Some of the colors shown may be different then they actually appear. If you have a question about the colors please check with us to verify it.
